If you are visiting this waterfall you must travel along the Colombo-Badulla road (A4). From Belihuloya, you will come to the beautiful Bambarakanda Falls which is about 5 km from Kalupahana junction. There is no doubt about the route to go as you can see a signpost showing the way to this waterfall. After about 4km past the Weerakoon village, you will encounter a forest road leading to Ella. Traveling through the village, you will find food and other necessities.

If you come by vehicle, there is room here to park your vehicle before entering the forest road. When you walk about a kilometer through the forest road you will encounter the Bambarakanda waterfall which we are talking about. You will have to buy a ticket for Rs. 20 and the money earned through the ticket will be used to maintain the road to the falls and to preserve the surrounding environment.

You can enjoy the spectacular views of this beautiful Bambarakanda waterfall from the platform next to the waterfall. But don't go near the falls because the depth is very near. There are many places to bathe in the lower part of the waterfall.

The waterfall looks very thin as it is used for cultivation in the highlands during the dry season. There are also two other beautiful waterfalls, Lanka Falls and Yalathenna Falls, which you can enjoy while on your way to Bambarakanda.

If you are traveling to Badulla, Haputale or Bandarawela on the Colombo-Badulla route, don't forget to visit this waterfall.
